This is great for team work, team tasks and team projects.</p><p>If you create a task in a private channel, only the participants of that channel will be able to see the tasks. </p><h2>How to create a task in Slack </h2><ul><li>Now that you have created your first Space, you can now create tasks in that Space. A task is anything that you or a team member needs to take action on. </li></ul><h3>Using /todo to create a task</h3><ul><li>In a channel or in a direct message, type <strong>/todo</strong> followed by the task details, including the name of the task, the assignee (if applicable) using the @ key, and the due date (if applicable).  For example - /todo End of Financial Year reports @kay Thursday 10am</li><li>Press enter to create the task.  </li><li>The task will now be created in the channel, and all participants of the channel can view the task.  As long as they have their notifications turned on, assignees will also get notified of the task in their <strong>workast</strong> channel. A space can be a list of tasks, event, customer, sales pipeline, product roadmap and so on. </p><p><strong>How to create your first space </strong></p><p>There are two different types of spaces: </p><ul><li><a href=\"https://www.workast.com/help/articles/61000272415-how-to-create-a-workast-space-in-slack\" target=\"_blank\">Connected to a Slack channel (public or private channel)</a></li><li><a href=\"https://www.workast.com/help/articles/61000165199-how-to-create-a-new-space-\" target=\"_blank\">Can live only in Workast (not connected to Slack)</a></li></ul><p>Creating a space which connects to a Slack channel makes it possible to create tasks from Slack. </p><p>To create a new space in Workast: </p><ul><li>Click on + next to \"Spaces\" in your left-hand taskbar.</li><li>A space creation dialogue will open. </li><li>Name: Name your space.</li><li>Invite others: Invite users to your space if desired - type in the names of the users that you would like to invite, and click on the populated result.</li><li>Privacy: Select who can join the space.  The default selection is \"Anyone on the team\" which makes it a public space.  To change the space to private, click the button next to \"Only those invited can join the space.</li><li>Connect to Slack: To connect this space to Slack, add the Slack app under \"Apps and Integrations.\" </li><li>Click the green \"Create space\" button to finish completing the space.</li></ul><p><img src=\"https://s3.amazonaws.com/cdn.freshdesk.com/data/helpdesk/attachments/production/61002858758/original/WaklkKAKTe_bTsuQQyxC4oL7aei7O7laxA.gif?1593468573\"></p><h2>How to set up project stages in Workast</h2><p>Projects in Workast live in a space. A task is anything that you or a team member needs to take action on.  Tasks are created in a space. </p><p>In Workast:</p><ul><li><p>On the left hand side bar, click on the space you want to create a task.  </p></li><li><p>Click on the +Create new task button.</p></li><li><p>Type the task you want to create.</p></li><li><p>Assignee: An assignee is the person that is responsible for the task. The team member will receive a notification in Workast that they are assigned the task. You can click on the person icon to add an assignee to the task, or hit tab to bring up the assignee menu (optional.)</p></li><li><p>Due date: The due date is the deadline for the task. It is used to remind the team member when the task is due. When you assign a task to a team member, they are notified that they have a task to do in Workast in the notifications tab (bell on top right hand corner of web app) and through the 'workast' app under \"Apps\" in Slack</p><p>The above method of creating a task, also showed how to assign the task when the task is created. This method will show how to assign a task to a team member to tasks that already exist. </p><ul><li><p>Find the task that you want to update.</p></li><li><p>Under the column which says \"Assignee\" click on the person icon (Unassigned icon) next to the task or the existing assignee if the task is already assigned.</p></li><li><p>Look for the team member you want to assign the task to and select the team member.
